strange attractors 2 in PAX10

a little game called Strange Attractors 2 that I and my mates have been working on for some time was nominated for penny-arcade.com's PAX10. Pretty fucking awesome. I cranked out a new website pretty much overnight. Ominousdev.com .. also cut together the trailer video. The Joystiq crew read my email on their podcast, and Ludwig actually said "Ominous Development, YEEEHAAWW!!" in a british texan accecnt, hehehe.. good times.

Before the Silence

Unrelated: The Mist is a fantastic classic horror movie. One of those where despite the unspeakably mind-breaking cthulhu like monsters, its the human characters that are by far the most monstrous. Like some of my other favorite horror movies (John Carpenter's The Thing, Session Nine, this is one that is much more about what happens when people's minds and society break than just gore, guts and terrible dialog (hostel, saw XVI anyone?). And what other stories can say they inspired both Silent Hill and Half-Life?

What makes the movie so damn good is that the actions of the characters are so believable. The decisions they make seem quite reasonable given the circumstances and whats so scary about it is just how quickly people will do anything if you scare them enough. Its a fine fine dance between religion and sanity with one of the best endings i've seen in any movie in quite some time.

So the new blog goes up today. This will be filled with various wonderful things in the future. Bet your ass. A while ago i did a project called parallax 365 in which i attempted to create a 'finished' piece of artwork a day. That went on for about 2 months before i blew my lid and got burned out on the whole project. Since then i've wanted to expand it to include photography, art, and music. Thats where this comes in. Ghost reveries is a repository for all the crap i create. maybe someday it'll be interesting to look through..
